We Are The CNS
We are a group of students passionate about all things neuro at Cambridge! Meet the team:
President
Beesh Mahen
My name is Beesh Mahen and I am very excited to be the President of the Cambridge Neurological Society this year. Neuroscience has fascinated me ever since I picked up a copy of “Do Zombies Dream of Undead Sheep?” - a light-hearted hypothetical view of the zombie brain. The fact that we can explain the behaviours of fictional creatures through theoretical neuroscience shows how far this field has come!
Fun Fact - I have a BA in Zoology, meaning I am going to be a doctor with a dinosaur degree!
Vice President
Zi Qi Kok
Hey everyone, I’m Zi Qi, this year’s Vice President for Cambridge Neurological Society! Neuroscience is a cutting-edge field where new discoveries are being made regularly, and neurological diseases constitute a large proportion of disease burden within the NHS, especially given the nation’s ageing population. The intricacy and complexity of neural networks, and how thoughts and emotions are encoded by these neurons and converted into speech and action fascinate me. I believe that the immune properties of cells within the brain are a promising avenue for exploration, especially in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. I’m stoked for the events we’ll be organizing for you this upcoming year and I hope that these talks will inspire you to be as passionate about neuroscience as I am!

Fun Fact - In my free time, I like jamming to soul music and cooking up a storm.
Publicity
Meg Margetts
Hi, I am Meg Margetts, I am a 4th year medical student and I am really excited to be your new publicity officer this year! If I had to choose my favourite part of Neuro would have to be neurodegenerative disease, although I love all of it.
Two fun facts about me: I compete in acrobatic rock and roll and I love baking.
Events
George Hudson
Hi, I’m George - I’m one of the events officers for CNSoc this year looking forward to a range of exciting talks designed to suit all tastes! Regarding my own personal interest in neuroscience, I completed some work in Caltech analysing ADHD type behaviours and neurodegeneration in mice so am particularly fascinated by these conditions. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys at CNSoc events soon!

Fun fact - I recently completed a skydive!
Events
Renuka Chintapalli
I am a third year medic currently undertaking PDN with a research project focusing on vectorcardiographic ECG analysis. I love all things neuro, especially stem cell technology and surgical innovation involving AI. Neurological research is also a great passion of mine so I hope to do an Academic Foundation Programme in this field once I graduate.

Fun fact - one of my favourite hobbies is painting portraits!
Secretary
Shoomena Anil
Hi there! My name is Shoomena, I am in my 5th year of Medicine at Peterhouse and am this years Secretary of CNSoc. I have a particular interest in neurosurgery and hope to be able to nerd out to my heart’s content about all things neuro over the coming year in CNSoc.
Database Manager
Madhavi Berks
Hi, I'm Madhavi and I'm excited to be this year's Database Manager! I'm currently compiling a list of potential project opportunities in both neurology and psychology for students to browse, covering both clinical and lab-based work. I find the intersection between our microscopic or biochemical knowledge of the nervous system with the macroscopic behavioural and psychological aspects really fascinating (although I also have a soft spot for all things AI!).

Fun Fact: I'm a bit of a compulsive book buyer....
Treasurer
Celine Partha
Hi! My name is Celine Iswarya Partha and I’m thrilled to be Treasurer of Cambridge Neurological Society this year! The anatomy of the brain has always intrigued me; we know so little about it, yet it controls our every move, thought and breath. So, of course, when given the opportunity to join CNSoc, I couldn’t say no!
Fun Fact: Need to finish 11 years of a TV show in a month? I got you x
